This was a cool, blustery day with the sun peeking out just overhead.

This was a cool, blustery day with the sun peeking out just overhead. There was no human activity on the beach but there were 4 cars in the parking lot. The beach is long and clean except for the seaweed and small velella in the driftline. The cliffs of sand mixed with wood are quite tall in some areas. And the area that has been bulldozed south towards the jetty still seems stark even though the beach grass is sprouting up again. No bird carcasses were found, and no snowy plovers although some pairs have been sighted by others. Except for a few Vultures, Whimbrels, Crows, Gulls and shorebirds, there was not much activity on this mile.

Driftline Content
Seaweeds and seagrass. Velella Velella - small ones all along the driftline.
Man-made Modifications
Dune modification/removal. The dunes starting from halfway between the parking lot and the jetty almost to the jetty have been leveled to encourage snowy plover nesting. The European beachgrass that was removed is already returning. However, there have been sightings of the plovers which is encouraging.

A nice bright day with a large group of birders from 30 cars looking for Snowy Plovers when I started but only 13 people walking or sitting on the beach on my way back.
