Mile 297 Report
Nehalem Beach, Nehalem Bay SP
June 5, 2018
The beach is now long, flat and very clean.
Report Details
The beach is now long, flat and very clean. The driftline had nothing in it, although the previous high tide line showed more mole crab carcasses than usual. The large amount of wood that was thrown up in previous years has sand over much of it and has added to the formation of a new front dune. This mile is part of the snowy plover protected zone with the improved signage this year appearing to be more effective at keeping people, dogs and horses off the upper beach. There were only 4 people on horses on the wet sand, almost no birds, and no carcasses. Only 2 cars and one RV were in the parking lot for the park.
