The sand is high on the beach with little wood showing, a long slope to the surf, and patchy seaweed at the tide line. This was a beautiful labor day weekend but there were only a couple of people and one dog on the beach except for two large groups of horse-back riders. Several flocks of single species shorebirds worked the sand, and a few gulls and pelicans flew overhead. There was no human debris but 8 bird carcasses were found, 5 common Murres, 2 Western Gulls and one Brandt's Cormorant.
