High tide extended to foredune with water accumulated in runnel.
Report Details
High tide extended to foredune with water accumulated in runnel. Outflow channels cut across the sand ridge. Sand removed from around cement boat dock. A few shells, crab carapices,rocks and kelp as well as one skate egg case with more numerous Polyorchis jellies and jelly pieces and wood in the driftline. Green diatom scum also in driftline A flock of Double-crested Cormorants flew north over beach. Large flocks of Western Gulls resting on beach. Dunlin and Sanderlings resting and foraraging on wet sand. Dead birds were 4 Common Murre and 2 juvenile Western Gulls. Two clumps of rope and one wad of fish net on beach. Plastic bottles, Clorox container and plastic basket on beach. Beach slope of 5 degrees. Air temperature of 55 degrees. Wind speed of 5.1 mph. Low human impact (0).

Report from Diane and Dave BilderbackHere on the south coast, we have been having a wash up of a pelagic purple tunicate, Dolioletta gegenbauri, that at times causes a deep purple wash on the beach and also has colored small sand pools.
