Light driftline with fresh water aquatic plants- Myriophyllum (Water Milfoil), terrestrial plant debris-stems, leaves and needles and saltwater plants, Phyllospadix (Surfgrass)and Eelgrass, Zostera.

Light driftline with fresh water aquatic plants- Myriophyllum (Water Milfoil), terrestrial plant debris-stems, leaves and needles and saltwater plants, Phyllospadix (Surfgrass)and Eelgrass, Zostera. Seafoam forming the most recent driftline. Few rocks and little ocean-based debris. Beach flat and wind swept. Upper beach with large drift logs. A large sand spit has formed north of the mouth to New River with a large tree stump on the western end. California Gulls flying south. Sanderlings foraging the surfline. One Snowy PLover foraging on the wet sand. Wind from the soutwest at about 15 mph. No people on the beach.

Sanderlings foraging at surfline. One Snowy Plover. California Gulls flying south.
Driftline Content
Small rocks. Aquatic and terretrial plant debris with Surf-and Eelgrass. Seafoam.
Natural Changes
Beach flat with a slope of 3 degrees.
Actions & Comments
A large sand spit has formed north of the mouth to New River with a large tree stump on the western end. Upper beach with large drift logs.

Report from Diane and Dave BilderbackHere on the south coast, we have been having a wash up of a pelagic purple tunicate, Dolioletta gegenbauri, that at times causes a deep purple wash on the beach and also has colored small sand pools.
