Light driftline of many Ctenophores, small rocks and a few shells and crab carapaces.
Report Details
Light driftline of many Ctenophores, small rocks and a few shells and crab carapaces. Four Whimbrel at mouth of New River and two Whimbrels flying north. One banded Snowy Plover foraging on beach. One dead Sooty Shearwater. Tiger Beetles along Twomile Creek. A fresh beaver trail and tracks were found along Twomile Creek. Beach flat with slope of 2 degrees. Air and ocean temperatures of 77 and 59 degrees, respectively. Wind of 12.1 mph from the NW. Sky overcast with intermittant fog.

Report from Diane and Dave BilderbackHere on the south coast, we have been having a wash up of a pelagic purple tunicate, Dolioletta gegenbauri, that at times causes a deep purple wash on the beach and also has colored small sand pools.
