Report Details
Shells, small rocks and small amounts of kelp/algae in driftline. Ridge/runnel formation with seaward ridge slopes of 8-14 degrees. Two riptide embayments with beach slopes of 3 degrees. One dead Common Murre. Living birds were Franklin's Gull, Glaucous-winged Gull, Pelagic Cormorants, Brown Pelicans and a flock of Brant's Geese. Surf foam on beach. Harobr Seal in New River. A bale of hay and back-rest pillow on beach. Air and ocean tempertures of 60 and 56 degrees, respectively. Wind speed of 3.4 mph. Low human impact (0).

Report from Diane and Dave BilderbackHere on the south coast, we have been having a wash up of a pelagic purple tunicate, Dolioletta gegenbauri, that at times causes a deep purple wash on the beach and also has colored small sand pools.
