Very light driftline of a few shells, rocks, jellies, and feathers.
Report Details
Very light driftline of a few shells, rocks, jellies, and feathers. Raccoons have been digging holes on the high beach. Large flocks of Least Sandpipers and Sanderlings. A Raven,two Dunlins and a Snowy Plover also were sighted. Raptor tracks on beach. Harbor Seal in lagoon. The ocean is washing over a large portion of the south beach. Beach slope of 4 degrees. Wind speed of 5.1 mph from the north. Air and ocean temperature of 50 and 51.6 degrees F, respectively.

Notable Wildlife
Large flocks of Least Sandpipers, Sanderlings, Raven, two Dunlins, one Snowy Plover, and raptor tracks on beach. Raccoon digs along beach. Harbor Seal in the Two-mile Creek/New River Lagoon.

Seaweeds and seagrass, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Shells, Small rocks. Very light driftline. A few jellies (Chrysaora fuscescens and Aurelia labiata), feathers, old Bull Kelp (Nereocystis) knots.

Report from Diane and Dave BilderbackHere on the south coast, we have been having a wash up of a pelagic purple tunicate, Dolioletta gegenbauri, that at times causes a deep purple wash on the beach and also has colored small sand pools.
