Kelp (Nereocystis kelp knots, Macrocystis, Fucus and Egregia), a few crab carapices, small rocks, wood, pine needles, a few broken sand dollars, four plastic fishing floats, fresh water alga, Cladophora entwined in freshwater pond weed, Potamogeton, two frog egg jelly masses and a frog tadpole in the driftline.

Kelp (Nereocystis kelp knots, Macrocystis, Fucus and Egregia), a few crab carapices, small rocks, wood, pine needles, a few broken sand dollars, four plastic fishing floats, fresh water alga, Cladophora entwined in freshwater pond weed, Potamogeton, two frog egg jelly masses and a frog tadpole in the driftline. An auto tire on the beach. A flock of Canada Geese flew south low over the beach. Caspian Tern diving for fish at mouth of the New River. Sanderlings foraging at surfline. A flock of Black-bellied Plover flying north. 13 Harbor Seals hauled out at the mouth of New River. One dead Northern Fulmar and Western Gull. Beach slope of 5 degrees. Two riptide embayments in the mile. Tracks of person with two dogs and probably the ATV of predator control for the Snowy Plover Habbitat Restoration area. Low human impact (0).

Human Activities
We saw ATV tracks but these probably were from the Snowy Plover biologists or the Predator Control person as they patrol the Snowy Plover Habitat Restoration area.

A flock of Canada Geese flew south low over the beach. Caspian Tern diving for fish at mouth of the New River. Flock of Black-bellied Plover. 13 Harbor Seals hauled out at the mouth of New River.

Total dead birds: 2. 1 Northern Fulmar1 Western Gull
Dead Fish or Invertebrates
One dead large frog tadpole and 2 gelatinous frog egg masses. One anchovy-like fish dead on the beach.

Seaweeds and seagrass, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Ocean-based debris (from fishing boats, ship trash, etc.), Small rocks, Wood pieces. pine needles, 4 plastic fishing floats, a few broken sand dollars. One automobile tire.
Actions & Comments
Kelp in the driftline and on the beach were Nereoceptisas kelp knots, Macrocystis, Fucus, Eregia. Beach slope of 5 degrees. Two riptide embayments in the mile. Tracks of a person with two dogs and ATV of probably predator control for Snowy Plover. Clumps of freshwater pond weed, Potamogeton, and the green alga, Chladophora, at places in the driftline.

Report from Diane and Dave BilderbackHere on the south coast, we have been having a wash up of a pelagic purple tunicate, Dolioletta gegenbauri, that at times causes a deep purple wash on the beach and also has colored small sand pools.
