Classic mid-week summer day with lots of people enjoying the beach. Unusual concentration of mussels on the beach for about 150 yards around NW 24th Street. Also, unusual number of small clumps of kelp along drift line and spread on beach.

Unusual concentration. Unusual concentration of beached mussels and barnacles spread about 150 yards along drift line and surf line near Nordic Inn, 24th Street. Photos below. One dead critter, unidentified but photo attached.

It has been a very hard year for Lion's Mane jellies with large numbers of whole or almost whole jellies and pieces, large and small at the tide line. Enjoyed meeting a praying mantis and, hopefully assisting in its recovery from the tide.
