Beautiful sunny Spring Break morning. Beach was very broad at low tide, and clean with minimal trash, driftwood, or sealife remains. Families out enjoying the beach, walking dogs, tide pooling, flying kites, playing in the sand. More and more people as morning progressed. One area of sand washout, leaving boulders and rocks the width of the beach. One marbled godwit feeding at the shoreline around NW 16th Ave.

Apparent violations: One pickup south of allowed vehicle area at NW 15th St entrance (photos).

Notable Wildlife

One small collection of velella velella remains at NW 34th St entrance (photo). Otherwise only a few solo sails seen elsewhere. No living or dead mammals, fish, or invertebrates seen. Very few seagulls. One marbled godwit (photos).

Driftline Content

Small rocks. Very clean, a little foam, not much at all in wrack line (photo).

Man-made Modifications

Graffiti at NW 21st St entry remains basically whitewashed (photo).

Natural Changes

No sand today in front of Surf Tides resort (~NW 30th St). Large flat platforms of stone and some small rocks interspersed made for a moonscape appearance (photo).

It has been a very hard year for Lion's Mane jellies with large numbers of whole or almost whole jellies and pieces, large and small at the tide line. Enjoyed meeting a praying mantis and, hopefully assisting in its recovery from the tide.
