Report Details
Again, short walk today but unusual concentration of dead fish, maybe 20-30 from NW 32nd to NW 26th Streets, Wecoma Beach. All appeared to have been on the beach for a short time since the gulls were just starting to snack.
Conditions
Temperature: 50 F. Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Tide Level: 3 feet.
Dead Fish or Invertebrates
Unusual concentration. Intended to only be a notification, not full report as only walked a short distance. Unusual concentration of dead carp on the beach from about NW 32nd to NW 26th Streets, Wecoma Beach, Lincoln City. All appeared well fed, about the same size, 14"-16", and reasonable freshly washed up. We have had heavy rains and 25-45 mph winds for the last few days. Seagulls were very happy for the fresh meals.
Driftline Content
Marine debris (plastic, styrofoam, etc. washing in from the sea). Significantly more plastics, trash, and small debris than usual on this stretch of beach. Collected about 3-4 champagne plastic tops so either there have been a lot of early parties or the storms have stirred up previous waste.
Natural Changes
Evidence of wave overtopping.

It has been a very hard year for Lion's Mane jellies with large numbers of whole or almost whole jellies and pieces, large and small at the tide line. Enjoyed meeting a praying mantis and, hopefully assisting in its recovery from the tide.
