Mile 158 - Oregon Dunes NRA, west of south end of Carter Lake - April 1, 2013

Very quiet...peaceful...void of humanity...nice!First, there was no sign of tsunami debris from Japan. Looked as though the dog (according to the tracks at the beach) might have been more interested in the beach sand than the plovers. Its tracks didn't appear to go into the surf area were the birds were flocking nor did I observe tracks leading onto any of the nesting areas.There were many broken shells of razor and other clams scattered throughout the mile of shoreline plus 2 or 3 mussel shell and a couple crab shells.Just a very nice peaceful semi-foggy day with the fog lifting slightly over the two and a half hours the four of us were there.

Number of people: 11. Number of dogs: 1. Walking or running: 4. Playing in sand: 3. Other Activities: 4 including myself coast watching. four people (other than ourselves) (and dog) were walking across the dune area returning from the beach area. 3 were sliding down the dunes on disks.

Apparent violations: Unleashed dog near plover nesting.
