Mile 297 Report
July 10, 2020
The beach is now very long, with the sand high against the cliffs.
Report Details
The beach is now very long, with the sand high against the cliffs. The wrack is full of crab and sand shrimp shells. 20 people were there today, with 3 biking on the hard sand and 2 riding horses. Little wood was visable. There were no dead birds or human debris. A group of about 50 gulls was resting on the sand and pelicans were fishing in the waves, but no flocks of shorebirds were around. The area where the dunes had been bulldozed to enhance the habitat for the snowy plover is growing grass back. And the zone set aside throughout this mile to protect the nesting for the plover is mostly undamage although there were a few dog tracks moving through from the back dunes. It was a good day to walk the beach with no problems to report.
