Report Details
Quiet day on the beach and the dock
Conditions
Temperature: 55 F. Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Tide Level: 5.0 feet.
Human Activities
Number of people: 15. Number of dogs: 2. Walking or running: 8. Other Activities: beachcombing. Most cars were on the dock; 6 people seemed to be working on their boats or otherwise. The fishing fleet seemed to be in with boats on their trailers on the dock. As we have severe shoaling around our dock, boats can only come and go at high tide.
Concerns
Driftwood removal
Apparent violations: small pieces only; could be carried in hands.Vehicles
Beached Birds
Total dead birds: 2. One was very deteriorated. The second not so much, but difficult to identify. It was the size of a gull with black beak and mottled brown color on back and backs of wings. I'm guessing an immature Herring or Glaucous gull.
Stranded Marine Mammals
Total stranded mammals: 1. 1 long dead seal or sea lion on the dock beach just below Fort Point.
Driftline Content
Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Small rocks, Wood pieces.
