Never seen so many dead birds on this small beach. 43! Some had been there a while but many Murres were pretty fresh. No clue as to what killed them. Something to do with the Port?

Temperature: 52 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: SW. Tide Level: 4.4 feet.

Human Activities

Number of people: 2. Number of dogs: 2. Walking or running: 2. Many very large holes dug in the dry sand. Like the size you could bury a small person in.

Vehicles

Cars/trucks parking: 2.

Beached Birds

Total dead birds: 43. No bands At least one pelican, some common Muirs, some gulls and maybe a Cormorant or two

Driftline Content

Small rocks, Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces, Land-based debris (picnics, etc.), Marine debris (plastic, styrofoam, etc. washing in from the sea), Styrofoam, Ocean-based debris (from fishing boats, ship trash, etc.).

New Development

Bluff development. Rip rap now added below the new hotel in the bluff above Battle Rock.

Man-made Modifications

New riprap or shoreline protection structures.
