Notable Wildlife

4 birds, I think some kind of plover or turnstone, were clinging to the lower side of Battle Rock, just above the water, acting as though they didn't want to get their feet wet. One flew, revealing a beautiful black and white pattern on top of its tail. They had shorter bills that sandpipers, appeared all brown until lifting their wings to reveal white lower bodies.A few gulls in the surf at Dock Beach

Wrackline Content

Wood pieces. small bits of plastic (not pellets), pieces of shell

Actions & Comments

Beach very clean; little or no litter, no kelp or dead birds or shells. A large amount of driftwood has accumulated this winter, especially around Battle Rock.

Quiet on this beach today. There are always more dead birds here than on the Battle Rock Beach.

Beautiful day! Sunny clear blue skies (Tee shirt weather) about as good as it gets here. Beaches looked clean and in good shape.

Cloud cover broke as we were eating lunch prior to going into the beach. On the pocket beach by Battle Rock saw a dead tree looking ready to fall off Battle Rock, almost directly over where the tunnel exits onto that beach.

The beaches were pretty clean this visit except for an exceptional amount of small trees and branches up with the logs at high tide line. There was no one on the Port Beach but 3 different people used the picnic table at the Sailor memorial while I was there.

The dead jellies were only on the main beach, not the little pocket beach bordering Battle Rock.
