I saw something that looked like sea pickles on the shore.

I saw something that looked like sea pickles on the shore. I have never seen them before. I found out from an episode of Oregon Field Guide tonight that they are Pyrosomes. I guess they are a new thing on the Oregon coast.More trash and human debris than I have seen here before, probably brought in by the king tides the previous few days.

Temperature: 55 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Tide Level: 6.1 feet.

Total dead birds: 1. gull
Dead Fish or Invertebrates
Unusual concentration. Pyrosomes in drift line

Seaweeds and seagrass, Wood pieces, Land-based debris (picnics, etc.), Marine debris (plastic, styrofoam, etc. washing in from the sea), Styrofoam, Ocean-based debris (from fishing boats, ship trash, etc.).

The dead jellies were only on the main beach, not the little pocket beach bordering Battle Rock.

During a brief respite from rain, I found the Port busy withdrawing a boat from the harbor.
