Report Details

The summer solstice provided a nice day for the numerous tourists visiting Otter Crest Wayside, where there were about fifteen vehicles in the parking area and approximately 35 people at the viewpoints and in the gift shop. In the gift shop, a video camera was set up in extreme telephoto mode with a live feed to a large screen TV, where it was possible to see the previously mentioned birds on distant rocks.  The gift shop is the best single location for viewing the shoreline of mile 226.  Human activity was entirely confined to above and to Otter Crest Loop, where there was more traffic than usual, with people stopping at turnouts to take in the views.
