This year there is increased use >350-500 visitors in one day. One must wonder the recoupertive tide effect with this increased use.

Number of people: 350. Number of dogs: 5. Tidepooling: 350. Other Activities: This was a holiday last school day 6 school buses 350-500 people on this beach with trained volunteers knowledgeable about Marine Reserves. Majority of visitors were being given guided tidal pool tours. Too many people but well informed and behaved.

All splash zone, low intertidal, middle intertidal, high intertidal zone floor/fauna all present; seals and pups, black oyster catchers,w. gulls, c geese, harlequin ducks, pigeon guillmont all present. Punchbowl caves available for entry.

Actions & Comments
Devil's Punchbowl is a highly visited are as are both the N surf beach/vertical tidal pools and the Marine Gardens S tidal pool area. This year there is increased use >350-500 visitors in one day. One must wonder the recoupertive tide effect with this increased use.

The day at Otter Rock (Devil's Punchbowl State Park) and Otter Crest Resort was clear and warm for January.

The was a lot of Ball Kelp on the beach, more than you would normally see, other than that everything appeared normal.

I saw only a few surfers on the beach below the Devils Punchbowl state park trying to surf, but there was not enough wave action to surf.
