This mile is from Newport's Davis Park to the north to the jetty near Yaquina Bay Lighthouse. Several access points: Davis Park, Elizabeth Inn, Shilo, Hallmark hotel, and the State Park.

Number of people: 25. Number of dogs: 12. Walking or running: 2. Sitting: 22. Surfing: 1. Tire tracks. Unsure if vehicles legal near dunes at north jetty. Trash. Syringe on beach.

Saw more dead birds than living.
Beached Birds
Total dead birds: 5. A mix of condition. 2 large; 3 small...unsure of species. No leg bands.
Driftline Content
Small rocks, Seaweeds and seagrass, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces, Marine debris (plastic, styrofoam, etc. washing in from the sea). lots of greenery washed up. Lots of feathers. Charcoal.
New Development
Did not notice any development
Natural Changes
The only thing I noticed was the southern access from the Yaquina Lighthouse State Park was closed due to seasonal high water.

I did not walk the entire length of my adopted mile, but had an enjoyable hour-long outing on my beach, which is from Davis Park to the north jetty in Newport.

The last several weeks have produced many lion's mane jelly fish on the beaches of Oregon's central coast.
