Mile 213 - Henderson Creek, South Beach SP south - April 7, 2014

Forgot to take a camera which would have documented some fallen trees/shrubs from the seriously eroded area south of Henderson Creek. South Beach Park Ranger said Japanese tsunami debris is still appearing with more sealed bottles with liquid. Showed us a small plastic net? buoy with Japanese writing which he had picked up that day. He cleans the beach a few times/weekly. Entrance to the beach at Surfland parking area is definitely a channel now.

Temperature: 50 F. Cloud Cover: Foggy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: W. Tide Level: 4.8 feet.

Number of people: 11. Number of dogs: 4. Walking or running: 9. Playing in sand: 2. Other Activities: 2 playing in sand w/dog. We were concerned about vehicle tracks we saw until we saw they were from a South Beach park ranger's vehicle.

Apparent violations: no concerns.

No birds/mammals seen (except dogs).

Erosion of vegetated foredune, Newly exposed roots/trees falling. Exposed rocks on beach

Actions & Comments

We spoke to the South Beach ranger who had removed litter about the exposed rocks. Winter storms & tide changes have removed beach sand which then exposes the rocks. We haven't noticed such rock exposure before.
