Mile 195 Report

September 23, 2018
It was a pleasant fall day for a beach walk with my canine companion, Westly.
Report Details
It was a pleasant fall day for a beach walk with my canine companion, Westly. He helped me with the only unusual finds, a series on dead birds on the drift line, most probably Murres. They will likely be gone with the next high tide. Most of the visitors seen were on the 804 trail section of the mile. The beach was largely deserted.
Conditions
Temperature: 62 F. Cloud Cover: Partly Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: N. Tide Level: 1.7 feet.
Human Activities
Number of people: 16. Number of dogs: 3. Walking or running: 16.

This is my first walk and report since losing my canine companion, Westly, over a year ago. The only important observation in this report is tire tracks from illegal driving on the beach.

Walking north oh Wayside Lodge I saw 15 or so dead Black Turnstone. That was the only species of bird that was dead. Lots of plastic bottles that I picked up.

I was just curious if a person who is knowledgeable about geology could explain what I'm seeing in the cliff here?
