Report Details
It was a beautiful, sunny day, which, together with the 3-day weekend, drew a large crowd to the beach. There was nothing negative encountered except one dead bird, probably a Common Murre (see photo). It is exciting to report that one large sea star was seen with binoculars just north of Overleaf Lodge. There used to be dozens here. It must be very lonely. The walk ended with a glorious sunset (photo).

This is my first walk and report since losing my canine companion, Westly, over a year ago. The only important observation in this report is tire tracks from illegal driving on the beach.

Walking north oh Wayside Lodge I saw 15 or so dead Black Turnstone. That was the only species of bird that was dead. Lots of plastic bottles that I picked up.

I was just curious if a person who is knowledgeable about geology could explain what I'm seeing in the cliff here?
