Report Details

Between 6:30 and 11:30 am saw 4 people beside myself; two were solo birder at Cummins Cr. early and the other two, a couple on the north beach an rocks to the north about 11:30. The Driftline was pretty clean, mostly composed of clear casings of a small invertebrate. I'd love to know what they are (photo attached). About 300 gulls spent the morning bathing and loafing at the mouth of Cummins Cr., and I noticed a lone seal, a harbor seal I guess, humping down into the surf about 7:30 am. Cormorant and scoter swimming and diving in the surf zone off the north end of the north beach; the scoter stayed most of the morning; 3 pelicans passed by the north beach in flight. Three large orange Pisaster in the rocks north of the north beach - couldn't get a close look due to tide and rough surf. I'm including a few photos. If anyone knows what those casings in the driftline are, please let me know.
