Because of the high tide, the birds were closer into shore but the seals were all somewhere else. There was lots of seaweed on the beach which we rarely get. Mostly Bull Kelp and Sea Palms. No trash or debris at all. Very clean. A lot of people climbing on the rocks. The most people we have seen on our mile. Last weekend before school?

Notable Wildlife

5 BandTailed Pigeons, 1 Barn Swallow, 56 Surf Scoters, 23 Harlequin Ducks, females and young, 9 Surfbirds, 6 Song Sparrows, 5 Double Crested Cormorants, 9 Pelagic Cormorants, 1 Turkey Vulture, 1 Pelican, 1 Wandering Tattler, crows, gulls. No seals, tide too high.

Beached Birds

Total dead birds: 1. Mostly eaten except for black wings.

Driftline Content

Seaweeds and seagrass. a lot of Bull Kelp and Sea Palms, unusual for our mile.

The day was very foggy so we didn't expect to see many birds but were very surprised to see 18 species, which has only happened two other times since 2003.
