Report Details

It was a beautiful clear day and the wind only started up about 3 in the afternoon. We saw 15 species of birds, one new one, a vireo. The beach was completely cleaned off from the high tide earlier and was much sandier than ususal for this time of year making walking easier. It was exciting to see so many sea stars out on the rocks. Hopefully they are making a comeback. There were a lot of people out enjoying the good weather on the beach. Ten Mile Creek has moved into a big bend coming south, building up a big rock pile where is turns. Behind that makes a good spot of the gulls to congregate.

Driftline Content

There was a very high tide earlier in the day so the beach had no driftline and was very clean.

Natural Changes

Possibly because of lack of storms there was a lot of sand on the beach. Usually by this time of year it is mostly all cobbles and the sand is gone.

The day was very foggy so we didn't expect to see many birds but were very surprised to see 18 species, which has only happened two other times since 2003.
