The day was very foggy so we didn't expect to see many birds but were very surprised to see 18 species, which has only happened two other times since 2003.

The day was very foggy so we didn't expect to see many birds but were very surprised to see 18 species, which has only happened two other times since 2003. A group of 5 turkey vultures sitting on the rocks waiting for better weather, and 14 sitting band-tailed pigeons. One new bird, a yellow throated warbler. Several flocks flying by, surfbirds, sanderlings as well as 4 pelicans headed north. There weren't any people on the rest of the beach so it was very quiet and peaceful. Most people didn't stay long in the main part. It was nice without any wind.

14 band-tailed pigeons, 5 turkey vultures, 4 tree swallows, 15-20 sanderlings flying by, 2 great blue herons, 2 pelagic cormorants, 12 Brandt's cormorants, 30 surfbirds flying, 1 harlequin duck, 2 pigeon guillemots, 2 barn swallows, 1 song sparrow, 1 Hutton's vireo, 1 yellow throated warbler, 130 surf scoters in the water, 4 pelicans flying north. 5 harbor seals on the rocks.

When we arrived in the parking lot it was almost full but people seemed to be leaving.

It was a lovely day but the sand is gone from all but the first part of the beach so the rest is cobbles, making it hard to walk.
