Report Details

A lovely sunny day without much wind.  We watched a gull take a mussel shell, fly in a big circle, gaining altitude till the bird was over the rocks.  Then it hovered, dropping the shell onto the cobbles to break it.  It was fairly succcessful about half the time.  The scoters floated in the surf, diving under the waves as they broke.  We assumed they were feeding there.  Several big tree trunks pushed up near the bluff by the storms.  The tide was too high to see the seals that are usually on the rocks.

The day was very foggy so we didn't expect to see many birds but were very surprised to see 18 species, which has only happened two other times since 2003.
