Report Details

A quiet day, without many birds, not even gulls, flying.  Not much wind but a big surf so there were no Surf Scoters out in the water.  There were some gulls at the mouth of Tenmile Creek but as we drove up the coast we saw a feeding frenzy out in the water, gulls diving and flying all in a small area.  There were a lot of dead crabs in the driftline, some very big ones totally intact and uneaten.  A lot of small ones as well.  The beach was very rocky and hard to walk on, except for the first sandy part.  The summer sand hasn't started coming in yet.   Most of the people tend to stay in the first sandy area.   The rock hunters go farther north to the cobble section.

The day was very foggy so we didn't expect to see many birds but were very surprised to see 18 species, which has only happened two other times since 2003.
