Report Details

A lovely overcast day with not much wind.  The sand was back for the summer making walking the beach easier.  We saw 12 orange seastars out on the rocks.  Hopefully they are coming back.  One dead on land.   Two new things for us, the worm like creatures on one part of the beach and the strange fish skelton.  Both pictured.  There were a lot of people out enjoying the beach, and one group having a marshmallow roast.  There were 14 species of birds seen and four seals.   The path to the beach is getting overgrown with vegetation and the former parking lot by the beach is now a sand dune.

Dead Fish or Invertebrates

In one part of the beach we found something we haven't seen before. Picture enclosed. Worm like looking critters that were scattered in the tide line, mixed in with small sections of kelp. We found worm like parts in one section only. Practically all were torn apart or only pieces of the arms. We only found two hooked together as in the picture. The other interesting thing was the fish skeleton. Photo attached.

The day was very foggy so we didn't expect to see many birds but were very surprised to see 18 species, which has only happened two other times since 2003.
