A beautiful sunny, windy day for a walk on the beach. Disturbing to see that an ATV had driven from past the north of our mile down to the bottom 1/4 of our mile in the Plover Nesting Protection zone.

A beautiful sunny, windy day for a walk on the beach. Saw an Osprey, 7 seagulls and over 300 Sanderlings flying along the water line. 100's of Vellallas along high tide line still blue and wet from the morning high tide. Disturbing to see that an ATV had driven from past the north of our mile down to the bottom 1/4 of our mile in the Plover Nesting Protection zone. It drove mostly on the wet sand but several times near the front of the dunes. We did not see any evidence of plovers actually nesting along our mile.

Temperature: 60 F. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Wind Direction: N. Tide Level: -0.1 feet.

Human Activities

There were fresh tracks of an ATV coming from the N past the top of our mile to the S 1/4 of our mile . That was all in the Plover protection area. Did not see the violation take place.

Cars/trucks parking: 3. ATVs/OHVs on beach, prohibited: 1.

Notable Wildlife

1 Osprey, a large flock of Sanderlings flying N along the water line (over 300), 7 gulls. Many Vellellas all along high tide line, many still wet, did not see any tentacles. They were blue and about 3" long.

Driftline Content

Small rocks, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt). Pretty clear beach.

Natural Changes

A few dune islands remain from our last visit in the Fall. Front of the dunes filled in with sand, typical of this time of year.
