Mile 147 Report
Oregon Dunes NRA, North Spit Umpqua River, Winchester Bay
May 1, 2014
Four of us cleaned mile 147 and accumulated 4 large bags of trash.
Report Details
Four of us cleaned mile 147 and accumulated 4 large bags of trash. Mile 147 had less garbage than previous trips. Road leading from hwy 1 on sparrow Park road down to the beach is in terrible condition. Large potholes make the road difficult to negotiate and would effect many peoples ability to reach the beach. Beach was free of deceased marine and bird life. There were millions of dead and living ants with wings along the tide line. This line ran the entire 5 miles of beach that I walked on.
Conditions
Temperature: 73 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: SW. Tide Level: 1.0 feet.
Human Activities
Number of people: 6. Other Activities: driving. Not much activity. The sparrow park road is in terrible condition and probably discourages people from visiting this beach.
