Mile 106 Report
Bullards Beach, west of Fahys Lake
November 7, 2013
It was a very overcast, calm day.
Report Details
It was a very overcast, calm day. A very high tide had the driftline about 30 feet from dunes. There was a great deal of decomposing kelp, now lightly covered with sand in most areas. Also, a great many holdfast rocks on the beach. The driftline had a lot of feathers in it. The beach itself has again shifted since early summer; now with more sand building it up higher and steeper. There was nothing about the plastic sink found that indicated it was from Japan. It did have quite a bit of algae covering it, as well as some gooseneck barnacles. The 12x12 beam was about 6 ft. tall and had very tiny gooseneck barnacles attached to it. There was no evidence of human activity. Animal casings, small rocks, wood pieces, a few jellies and land- and ocean-based debris in the driftline. Large flock of Sanderlings flying north.
