Great way to start the New Year.
Report Details
Great way to start the New Year. After the recent severe storms, the beach was relatively clean. Logs and debris were high near the foredune but not much different in quantity from our earlier visit. Dune erosion was not evident. Wildlife was scarce, just a few birds (Killdeer and Western Gulls). Driftline was primarily bird feathers and small pieces of wood. We also hauled out about 10 pounds of ocean-borne plastic bits, pieces and bottles. Signs prohibiting vehicles on mile 104 gone. A SUV drove south to Bandon Jetty.

Temperature: 50 F. Cloud Cover: Partly Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: SW. Tide Level: 3.0 feet.

Number of people: 10. Number of dogs: 2. Walking or running: 3. Other Activities: Horseback-5, Car-2. Signs prohibiting vehicles on Mile 104-south are gone. CA-licensed SUV drove south to Bandon Jetty.

Notable was the absence of wildlife. A couple of Killdeer and Western Gulls.

There were a greater number of dead birds on the beach after Saturday's storm.

There was avery high concentration of by the wind sailor jellyfish at the high tide driftline.
