I went back to mile 106 this morning to check out the status of ill sea lion.

I went back to mile 106 this morning to check out the status of ill sea lion. Again I saw no evidence of an injury. The animal was in the same location, no evidence in the sand that it had attempted moving. Will update Jim Rice of the Marine Mammal Stranding Network with phone call.
Conditions
Temperature: 48 F. Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: S. Tide Level: 1.0 feet.
Human Activities
Truck driving on beach, legally. Seemed to be looking at driftwood.
Vehicles
Notable Wildlife
Several groups of sanderlings feeding.
Stranded Marine Mammals
Total stranded mammals: 1. Sick, juvenile sea lion. Still alive since yesterday. Extremely weak and emaciated. Same location, approximately Mile 106.5. Photos taken.

Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Shells, Small rocks, Wood pieces.
Actions & Comments
Had called Jim Rice of the Marine Mammal Stranding Network yesterday but wanted to add photos to report today. I believe animal to be ill rather than injured from what I have been able to observe.

There were a greater number of dead birds on the beach after Saturday's storm.

There was avery high concentration of by the wind sailor jellyfish at the high tide driftline.

This stretch of beach was quiet as always.
