Report Details

High tide reaching close to vegetation (composed of European beach grass) above the waveslope. Beach condition pristine; no litter (except for a fresh half eaten sub sandwich sitting on a log). Flock of gulls at mouth of Winchuck including a couple Heerman's gulls.

Conditions

Temperature: 58 F. Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Tide Level: 6.8 feet.

Human Activities

Number of people: 3. Number of dogs: 1. Walking or running: 3. Photography: 1. High tide may have reduced number of people visiting this beach at this time; there were numerous footprints above surfline from earlier. I hadn't visited this beach in such a high tide before and was surprised that the surf reached almost to the vegetation up the wave slope in spots. I did observe one other person on the beach briefly on the California end but they didn't pass me so presumably a local beach house resident.

Vehicles

Cars/trucks parking: 4.

Notable Wildlife

Flock of gulls at Winchuck River mouth including a couple Heerman's gulls. This beach seems to have a scarcity of shorebirds but I don't visit enough to really know.

Beached Birds

Total dead birds: 1. One Common murre, freshly dead on Crissy Field beach; another older Common murre carcass on the California end of beach.

Driftline Content

Small rocks, Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces.
