August 22, 2022
Human activity: 23 people, 6 dogs.
Report Details
Human activity: 23 people, 6 dogs. Most walking, 4 playing in surf, 2 surf fishing. All dogs on leash. Surf fishing seems too close to pelican fishing due to potential for entanglement. Beach is very clean but I did not walk north side of Winchuck River. Shoreline wildlife: Mostly continuous wrackline of dried up seaweed. 100 Brown pelicans diving at mouth of Winchuck River, roosting on offshore rocks and large squadrons flying in from the south.
Conditions
Temperature: 64 F. Cloud Cover: Foggy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: W. Tide Level: 3.8 feet.

Eleven additional people observed on beach or in ocean south of state park boundary (sitting, surfing and boogie boarding).. All dogs on leash. Surf fishing adjacent to pelicans diving. Only one piece of trash observed, a soda straw. (South of state park boundary, a mylar balloon was attached to a post indicating a trail to a beach home). Two piles of dog poo, one bagged. Six driftwood structures. One clump of tansy just above high tide line. Old vehicle tracks at south end of state beach and narrower cart tracks also at south end coming from break in vegetation above beach.
