Total dead birds: 6. Common murre, western gull, cormorant
Dead Fish or Invertebrates
Unusual concentration. Crustaceans and pelecypods: Many many fragments of shells of long-dead Cancer magister, also a few molted carapaces of same. Many empty shells of Mytilus califonrianus. Fragments of Emerita analoga.
Driftline Content
Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces, Land-based debris (picnics, etc.), Styrofoam. Unusual number of pieces of cut lumber, plywood, one door.
Man-made Modifications
Several large clumps of exotic pampas grass (native to South America) on face of seacliff, some as far down onto beach as to touch fringing cobbles.
