Survey taken over two days, 21, 22 September, in conjunction with COASST dead-bird survey. A pleasant lull between two severe wind storms and a day before a very heavy rainfall.

Temperature: 18 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Wind Direction: SW. Tide Level: 4.0 feet.

Disturbances: Shorebirds moving in response to humans/dogs

Beached Birds
Total dead birds: 2. Northern petrel, Pelagic cormorant, processed and reported to COASST.
Stranded Marine Mammals
Total stranded mammals: 1. Freshly dead harbor seal, reported to stranding network at Seaside Aquarium; response that someone may perform necropsy.
Dead Fish or Invertebrates
Remains of many dead Cancer magister, evidently victims of hypoxia. Some dead Emerita analoga, decomposed sea jellies.
Driftline Content
Seaweeds and seagrass, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces. Beach lined with heaps of washed-in fresh Zostera from unknown estuary, intertwined with masses of spruce and pine needles from recent local windstorm.
