Report Details

We walked our mile this morning. It is a bright, sunny day with a light wind from the south. There were gulls on the beach and flying overhead, but we saw no evidence of any birds affected by the algae. We were surprised by the number of people and dogs on the beach, but it was a great morning to be on the beach.

I observed new signs in Rockaway city proper, restricting using the public access to the beach at 1st and 2nd Avenues. Sign reads NO ACCESS: Until further notice, all city owned paths, walkways, stairs, and any other improved or unimproved access ways to recreation areas are closed.
