Mile 293 Report
Rockaway Beach, State Wayside
November 10, 2016
A calm and mild morning for our walk.
Report Details
A calm and mild morning for our walk. Modest amount of seaweed in spots but the beach is very clean with just a few rocks & shells visible. It's a different story up at the high tide line near the dune grass where we filled a kitchen bag with garbage. Glass and plastic bottles, aluminum cans, plastic twine & fragments, a few flip flops, and a broom. Not many people or dogs but lots of seagulls near Rock Creek next to the Wayside. That's where several of the gulls were taking turns feeding on the scattered remains of a small seal that had apparently been carried in on the tide. On the N. side of the stream, condos undergoing repair are creating a temporary mess. Will keep a watch on that.

I submitted a report recently on a beach 245 miles to the South, mile 49, the Port beach in Port Orford, where I noticed many jellyfish washed up.

Overall the beach looked pretty good for post king tides and fireworks.
