Mile 293 Report
Rockaway Beach, State Wayside
February 11, 2015
About as good as it gets in February.
Report Details
About as good as it gets in February...mid 50's & calm...a most pleasant day! Beach was pretty clean, but still managed to fill a kitchen garbage bag full with plastic, rope, bottles and Styrofoam. Much more is probably covered by sand blown by the recent storms...will get to that later. Found minimal remains of a few birds but couldn't tell the make or model. Came across a huge tangle of rope and nets that must weigh well over 200 pounds, so advised 211. Too bad more people didn't enjoy this great day...nice to be on the West coast

I observed new signs in Rockaway city proper, restricting using the public access to the beach at 1st and 2nd Avenues. Sign reads NO ACCESS: Until further notice, all city owned paths, walkways, stairs, and any other improved or unimproved access ways to recreation areas are closed.
