It was a very pleasant fall equinox on Mile 289. As usual, there is evidence of sand build up and dune formation over the summer. The new sand buried most of the wood and washed up debris, leaving the beach looking remarkably clean.

Temperature: 65 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: S. Tide Level: 4.0 feet.

Number of people: 1. Walking or running: 1. 2 groups of horses on spit, but not on Mile 289 at time of observation.

I saw so many different types of birds along the jetty, I'm no bird expert but I thought I saw pelicans, herons, cormorants, and sea gulls.
