This survey was all about the jelly fish that covered the most recent wrack areas. The jelly fish were found on the entire 4.5 mile spit. This was our first survey since the beach restrictions were lifted. During nesting season, dogs are prohibited even on leash. We feel guilty leaving our dog at home so I've decided not to survey when the beach is restricted. This mile is remote, and there probably isn't any enforcement. So there is a very likely chance that not all the other visitors with dogs would comply.

Temperature: 50 F. Cloud Cover: Partly Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Tide Level: 3.0 feet.

Other Activities: saw 1 bicyclist and 1 dog on jetty road, not on beach.

Apparent violations: none.

Cars/trucks parking: 2.
Dead Fish or Invertebrates
Unusual concentration. jelly fish covered the spit from Cape Meares to the jetty.
Driftline Content
Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces. eel grass was thick way up the beach due to the very high tides a week ago. The recent high tide brought in the thousands of jellyfish.

I saw so many different types of birds along the jetty, I'm no bird expert but I thought I saw pelicans, herons, cormorants, and sea gulls.
