It was a cool, rainy day, typical of this year's spring.

It was a cool, rainy day, typical of this year's spring. There were more than the typical number plastic containers of all sizes and shapes littering the beach. The SOLV volunteers will find Mile 289 "target rich."
Conditions
Temperature: 45 F. Cloud Cover: Rain. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: S. Tide Level: 6.0 feet.
Human Activities
Number of people: 1. Fishing: 1. The entire spit is closed to motor vehicles. State Parks will use pickups and DOGAMI will use ATV's. The motorcycle tracks found yesterday were probably not official vehicles.

2 Blue Herons were waiting for food in the surf. On the bay side, loons were heard and spotted.

Driftline Content
Seaweeds and seagrass, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Land-based debris (picnics, etc.), Ocean-based debris (from fishing boats, ship trash, etc.), Marine debris (plastic, styrofoam, etc. washing in from the sea), Shells, Small rocks, Styrofoam, Wood pieces. many plastic containers of all sizes.
Natural Changes
As usual, no erosion is occurring. Sand is accreting.

I saw so many different types of birds along the jetty, I'm no bird expert but I thought I saw pelicans, herons, cormorants, and sea gulls.
