Report Details

It was a cool, windy day on 289. The mile continues to be very stable, no signs of erosion over the years. The north jetty was rebuilt over the summer, and crabbers and the Coast Guard commented in the press that the currents in front of the jetties have changed. Found a fairly rare long-nosed lancetfish on the mile.

Temperature: 50 F. Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Wind Direction: SE. Tide Level: 7.0 feet.

Apparent violations: none.

shorebirds and a few seagulls were present

Total dead birds: 7. 6 northern fulmers1 rhinoceros auklet

Dead Fish or Invertebrates

Found a fairly rare long-nosed lancetfish. But I have seen 2 others on Bayocean Spit in the past 2 years.

sand built up over the summer is being eroded. Not even close to the foredune.

I saw so many different types of birds along the jetty, I'm no bird expert but I thought I saw pelicans, herons, cormorants, and sea gulls.
