Took care of this survey a few days before the solstice to take advantage of some December sun. We did find an unusual dead bird. Jane of COASST confirmed that it is an immature white snow goose. There have been only 36 of these found on all of the COASST beaches, California to Alaska. They represent .09% of the total.While not on Mile 289, there is a barge on the bay side of the spit that is controversial.http://www.tillamookheadlightherald.com/news_paid/article_dcd841cc-6128-....

I saw so many different types of birds along the jetty, I'm no bird expert but I thought I saw pelicans, herons, cormorants, and sea gulls.
