Report Details
In lieu of the postponed SOLV clean up, we took advantage of the glorious morning to check the beach after the recent storms. We removed a full garbage bag of 'stuff', mostly small pieces of waste, several Pacific rim bottles, and one large cube of Styrofoam. No dead animals. Far less waste than we saw last March and April. Streams across the beach were in full spate. No significant erosion was apparent and the beach profile evened out by the storm. Some interesting new large driftwood trunks and root balls. Two small pieces of the thin ocean bottom layer of sand stone which has been breaking up and which I have been gathering ... they show the effects of wave and currents and other bottom characteristics (like clam burrows) on the sand before it was hardened.
