Report Details
A medium-sized chunk of topsoil and salal slid off the bluff above near Nestucca mouth, no doubt the result of a recent storm and high wave action (see photo). The mouth of the river has shifted about 70' to the north from the last report (see photo). This gave access to the isolated beach area just inside the river mouth on the south shore. Lots of interesting drift wood and lots of plastic in that area. Generally, a significant increase in plastic debris was noted, most prevalent nearer the Nestucca mouth. We noted areas of bluff erosion where residents (presumably) from above use ropes or makeshift stairs to get to the beach - areas to be watched over time. Significant beach erosion noted south of the mouth as well as a significant increase in wood debris, mostly tree limbs and larger driftwood (see photos).
